Moorpark Civil War reenactment like other reenactments is very exciting. At Moorpark, however, there is something you don't see at others namely a night battle. Being able to experience the tension, excitement, and anticipation at night makes this battle and reenactment unique. During the day guests, and it seems like dozens of photographers carrying really expensive gear, crowd into the reenactor camps. My husband and I are part of the 2nd U.S Cavalry, so our camp was in the Union area near the entrance. As many reenactments as we've attended, I never tire of lugging my camera gear around and looking for those scenes that in my mind recreate what life may have looked like during the Civil War. I rarely ask people to pose for me as I enjoy catching them unaware. I think the expressions I capture are much more natural that way. I also work very hard in camera or by cropping to remove all evidence of modern day elements. I'm pleased with my photos from this reenactment and I welcome you to stroll through the gallery and be transported back in time to the 1860's. Enjoy!
